A well-designed and appropriately decorated room demonstrates the basic elements of interior design, horizontal and vertical lines. Good design in all styles, traditional, neo-classic, modern or contemporary is confirmation to the interior design world that those simple elements are represented.

The two foundations of design are vertical and horizontal lines. If used correctly, these design elements position the focus in a room for the best visual balance. They are the design features that provide the essential support for the room design and serve to accent a specific interior space. More important than focal points, a design without properly used horizontal and vertical elements is a failed design.

For example, crown moulding on the ceiling is a strong horizontal element. The horizontal line takes your eyes around the perimeter of the room. This is why all home stagers emphasize the mouldings in homes that they prepare for resale. Commonly used vertical elements in interiors are floor lamps, lamps on tables, hutches and armoires, indoor plants, pedestals, and hanging chandeliers. In hotels, indoor fountains and water features provide vertical height. These vertical design elements direct the eye upward and emphasize the overall height of the space.

Vertical lines accentuate features, and create a focal point. Wall sconces in a foyer may frame a decorative mirror placed above a buffet or sideboard. A pair of tall candlesticks placed on a mantle accent the vertical element. At best, vertical lines serve as design markers to make a strong statement. In furnishings, a tall backed chair like a wing chair becomes a vertical element. Verticals facilitate the spatial story.

The horizontal equivalents of vertical elements are long dining tables, sofa backs or straight railings. Your eye moves from side to side. Interior design schemes that feature horizontal pieces, like sectionals, beds or mantles, suggest the idea of staying a while. A horizontal design element informs the eye that you have reached the end. It is time to stop and stay in a comfortable spot. A horizontal feature beckons you to stay. Think about bedrooms or spa baths which feature flat, horizontal surfaces. In public spaces like airports there are rows of seats, or in reception rooms chairs circle the room with the message, please sit and stay awhile.

These two complementary design elements – verticals and horizontals – are the anchors for a successful design concept. Highlight the vertical and horizontal to achieve an eye-catching interior design and make any room a stunning success. As you discuss your design with an interior designer give thought to what horizontal and vertical elements you want to feature.…

I know, I know. There are these huge, plain, and boring 24″ x 48″ fluorescent ceiling lights, right in the middle of your kitchen, your conference room, or your individualized office decor. A homeowner will always have the option to upgrade to a different lighting type, possibly spend thousands of dollars, to demolish existing lighting, wire for the new fixtures, replace the removed sheet-rock, and locate the new fixture locations. The purchase of replacement lighting fixtures will introduce you to a whole new world of options and price ranges. After all of the demolition, and installation, there remains the textured ceiling matching, most often followed by a re-texturing of the entire ceiling, just to achieve uniformity. It can be overwhelming to the DIYer, and will test many a household budget, to complete the task.

FYI, fluorescent lights, were installed in the 70’s and 80’s, in millions of homes and offices. They were an inexpensive solution to providing full lighting to drop ceiling offices, and in household spaces, that required more than a single bulb in the ceiling, to keep you from stubbing your toe on the bed corner. Today, there are tax credits for using ‘GREEN’ lighting fixtures, like fluorescent lights. GO GREEN!

There are a limited number of companies that offer solutions to making existing fluorescent ceiling lights more attractive. If you consider the type of lighting that is needed for your particular purpose, an option exists, for enhancing the esthetics of your existing fluorescent lights.

There is a psychological benefit to using a calm, more serene depiction of nature, in medical and dental practices, etc.. Most often, these spaces utilize additional lighting, to assist with medical procedures. Public spaces, like waiting rooms, lobbies, and casinos, might utilize images like sky and clouds, or green foliage, and even ‘Tiffany’ style panels. These replacement fluorescent panels will work well in these settings.

A few things need to be considered, when deciding on an option for decorating an existing fluorescent ceiling light. Will your space suffer from a loss of light after installing a decorative panel. Will you be happy if the replacement panel changes the color spectrum of the space to blue, or green, or brown (Tiffany). Will you appreciate the outcome, when you consider the cost, the effort to trim a rigid panel to fit your fixture, and the change made to the space, in terms of light loss and color change.

Very few options exist if you require your kitchen, office, or other work space to retain its light quality, and color spectrum. Additionally, the process required to re-size, a rigid plastic panel, will often lead to the destruction of the panel. Many will hesitate to attempt this feat, for fear of ruining the panel, and losing a fair amount of money for their purchase.

The option to decorate your existing fluorescent ceiling light, without having to replace, or resize a rigid plastic panel, is also available. A graphic overlay, reproduced on a heavy ‘Mylar’ like material, can …

“Eden stretched her line

From Auran eastward to the royal town

Of great Seleucia, built by Grecian kings,

Or where the sons of Eden long before

Each and every tree is fruit laden. Every trees of the Garden carry fruits and flowers which are shinning brightly as sun’s rays’ fall on them.

The trees of the Garden are full of fruits which are really tasty and full of richness. These trees are not planted artificially. They are full of natural richness and qualities. • Label: The Jimmy Choo label is generally a lilac colored metal face fastened to a leather backing, and stitched to the interior of the handbag. Many fakes have the incorrect shade of lilac, either going to light or too dark in the purple spectrum. The label should read in either gold or silver. However, even if the colors are correct, the label may still not be in the clear. Because it is often times the font details that are singular to authentic Jimmy Choo that many of fake handbags get wrong, and this is one of the best places to look when attempting to identify a phony J. Choo.
  • Font: Always check out the “H” in Choo. On an authentic handbag, the horizontal cross-bar in the H should not be in the center of the letter, the way it is intended to be with regards to most standard fonts. Instead, the Jimmy Choo H should have the cross-bar closer to the top, about 75-80% of the way up the H, if measuring from the bottom of the letter. If the handbag has the correct H, move to the letters “O” in Choo. On an authentic handbag, the O will have a slightly dented look. This means that the “O” will appear as if someone tapped down on the top of the letter, giving the O an oval shape rather than a perfect circle. Spotting a fake Jimmy Choo handbag often times comes down to the subtleties in the font.
  • Hardware: Any screws located on handbag hardware will always be a flat head (-) screw. Jimmy Choo will never utilize any Philips head (+) screws in any of their handbags.
  • Dustbag: Fake Jimmy Choo handbags will often be accompanied by a dustbag that is an incorrect color or format. An authentic dustbag should have the logo: “JIMMY CHOO,” with “LONDON” centered perfectly under the logo. The font should be an embossed grey, while the dustbag itself will be the famous lilac color. Many fakes will have incorrect font colors on the dustbag, as well as the incorrect dustbag color i.e. the wrong shades of purple etc. Good luck and safe shopping!

Most bedroom and bathroom doors don’t have keyholes. This means that when your child locks you outside the door you can’t easily get inside. While it’s challenging to unlock the door, this doesn’t mean that it’s impossible. To help you out here are some of the ways in which you can unlock the door.

Plastic card

While grasping the doorknob with your non-dominant hand you should push the door so that the gap between the locked door and doorframe is wide enough. You should then insert the card into the gap above the doorknob in a slightly downward angle and then wiggle the plastic card downward until you encounter the locking mechanism of the doorknob.

You should slide the plastic card against the angled portion of the metal locking mechanism and push it back out of the doorjamb. When you feel some resistance from the lock starting to give you should push the door open. You should note that you may be required to wiggle the card a little bit in order to get the right opening.

Removing the doorknob

If you have tried the above method and it fails to work you should consider removing the doorknob. Here you should locate the screws on either side of the doorknob and then use a screwdriver to remove them. To unlock the door you should manually pull the locking mechanism back into the door.

Hinge removal

If you have tried removing the doorknob and still the door doesn’t unlock you should go to the last resort-removing the hinges. You should start by determining the direction that the door swings. If it swings towards you, you should remove the door from the hinges.

If there is paint covering the hinges you should use a razor blade or box knife to remove it. You should then place the tip of the screwdriver under the lower hinge and tap it with a hammer. To push the hinge you should pin it up and out.

You should repeat the same procedure with the upper door hinge taking care that the door doesn’t fall off the hinges and on top of someone.

These are some of the ways in which you can unlock the door without a keyhole. You should note that if your door has a trim on it you have to first trim it in order to gain access to the locking mechanism using your plastic card.…

Certain kinds of light, light intensity and light fixtures will be best suited to your needs in various areas within the bathroom, especially if you are remodeling a large bathroom.

  • Natural light is ideal in a bathroom. A good source of natural light, such as a window or a skylight (or roof window) will provide the light needed without energy use for artificial lighting.
  • Natural light is often preferred for make-up application. For this reason, it makes sense near a dressing table or a vanity.
  • An operable window (one that can be opened) also provides natural ventilation without the cost or the energy required to use an exhaust fan.
  • Bright light is desirable around showers and tubs because it makes it easier to see water on the floor that could cause a slip and fall.
  • Natural light can reach farther into the room if partitions are made of translucent glass blocks or panels.
  • Brighter light is generally preferred for shaving and personal hygiene, and thus makes sense near sinks and vanities.
  • Light fixtures used in bathrooms should be moisture-proof to prevent damage to wiring.
  • Any light fixture used in a shower should be one designed for use in a high-moisture area.
  • Lights directed toward the ceiling will make the room appear larger.
  • Using compact fluorescent bulbs in bathroom fixtures will last longer and save energy.
  • Choosing energy-efficient light fixtures will save energy and might qualify for a tax credit or a utility rebate (depending on your locality).
  • Lighting a vanity area from above will cause shadows.

Now that you have decided to reformulate your interior space, picking the right colors for specific rooms can come across as tedious. It does help to have a fair color sense, but there’s more to interior designing than choosing the right color.

Picture it this way: just like each person has a unique aura every room has its own aura as well. But the best part is that each room’s aura can be modified with a little bit of common sense and oodles of creativity. The color of a room speaks volumes about its aura.

We bring you some tips on how to choose the right color for different rooms of your house. Read on to find out…

The living room forms the major portion of most modern homes. Technically, this room is supposed to be the most important of rooms as this is where we receive guests and most of us spend quality time as a family. This presupposes the importance of getting the right color for this important part of the residence. Experts suggest that you should always go in for bright colors for the walls so that the sunlight gets reflected properly aiding in the proliferation of positive energy. Not too fond of bright colors? No problem, you always have the option of creating a focus wall with a brightly coloured hue and then painting the rest of the walls with a milder hue to create an alluring contrast.

When painting the kitchen, we suggest you use shades of medium undertones so that you can save yourself the embarrassment of showing stained walls to your guests. Also, medium toned colors ensure that there is a right balance of brightness and calmness that is required to cook something garnished with love.

The bedroom is the place where we unwind ourselves after a hectic day. So make sure this place makes use of the mildest shades possible to have a soothing effect. That said, make sure you don’t use an excess of blue shades as experts point to the increase of negative emotions tied to being in a room painted in blue.

Nothing pleases the eye and the heart more than an aesthetically well-painted house. It only adds few feathers on your cap, but also instills a sense of holistic well- being to your family. So go ahead, let the colors run riot and steer your home towards a healthier living.…

You can start your own business, and be your own boss, and work your own hours, when you are building and maintaining water ponds and garden ponds for yourself. You can start out building small ponds, and work your way up to bigger, more fancier ponds. You can buy small water ponds at some home improvement stores, and you should be able to find enough accessories, to start your own pond business.

You can also go all out, later on, buy having your own tractor to use to dig out the ponds. You can rent tractors and bobcats to dig out large ponds. For extra large ponds, you might even need a crane. But most average size ponds, can be done by hand, with a shovel, or several people digging at once. You can buy pond liners, and materials, from local suppliers, you can find in the telephone book, or on the internet. You can pick various rock designs, to form your pond. As with any pond, your imagination is the only thing stopping you from building a beautiful pond.

The pond business can be a form of art, as no two artists, will view the building of a pond the same way, you don’t really want to build your customer a square no frills pond. You want to think about it, and create a piece of art, for your customer, and that is how you should think of it. People love ponds with Lilly pads, goldfish, water fountains, etc. You can make good money putting in nice ponds.

You should take a picture of each pond job you complete, so that you have a nice portfolio to show potential new customers. You should make up fliers, and pass them out to landscape suppliers, home & garden stores, hardware stores, nurseries, feed supplies, and more. You can offer them a commission, or lump sum payment, for any pond jobs that they send your way, and you do. You should have nice signs on the side of your vehicle made up, saying you build ponds. You could take some digital pictures of some of your completed jobs later and print them out in color, and turn them into magnetic signs, to also put on your vehicle as a sales pitch, and a picture is worth a thousand words, they always say.…
