Why even consider getting a floor steam mop or a floor steam vacuum? If you are like me and are doing your own house cleaning, you might be faced with a dilemma as of how to best use your time and resources when it comes to cleaning your living spaces, the kitchen, the bathroom area, and the shower area.

Your carpet in the living room may have developed several dark stains that will not go away by vacuuming alone. The tiles in the shower may have developed dark grout, and the sinks may be covered with shampoo and soap stains.

Since you have already spend over $100 for the vacuum cleaner which doesn’t really do the job to your satisfaction, you want to make sure you are getting a piece of machinery that will do a better job, that is for sure.

We will discuss here pros and cons of two competing carpet cleaning technologies that go beyond vacuuming. The first one is a carpet steamer, or a carpet steam mop, and the second one is the carpet steam vacuum. We will discuss the advantages and disadvantages of both.

Floor steam mops

Floor steam mop is an appliance that looks like a mop but it has a canister attached to it, and uses an electric heater to bring the water in the canister to a boil. The resulting water vapor is then led through the mop handle and the vapor is then sprayed through the micro fiber pad at the top of the mop. The micro fiber then mops the debris from the floor or the carpet that you are canvassing.

A big advantage for many people of the steam floor mop is that it is environmentally friendly, that is, it will not dispense harmful and potentially toxic chemicals in your house that might take days to be removed, and may even accumulate, causing air toxicity in the house.

A disadvantage of the steam mop cleaner is that, even with a high temperature setting of as much as 300 F, before the steam reaches the tip of the mop, it is already chilled significantly. That means that, in all likelihood, the steam will not be as effective in removing carpet stains, or any other stains from the floors or tiles. Also, the effectiveness of the micro fiber pad in removing all the resulting debris is in question.

You may be able to remedy the low temperature problem by removing the steam mop stick or using a shorter one. That way, the steam temperature will be maximized, and tougher stains will be removed.

Floor steam vacuums

The steam vacuum is similar to a steam mop, but it has an additional feature, namely, it sprays the water onto the carpet, agitates the carpet, and then vacuums the resulting liquid back into the “dirty water” tank.

The advantage of a steam vacuum is that, since it does vacuum up most of the debris, it is typically used with detergents and cleaning chemicals, …

A very hot topic & popular question is what changes 2011 will bring to the Dodge Challenger. For the most part the styling of the car will be the same save for a few cosmetic changes:
New Front fascia (lower grill area is flipped upside down)
New Door Handles
Dual rear Exhaust (all models)
Redesigned front air dam (SRT)

Dodge will offer the Challenger in the same three existing trim levels that are available today (SE, RT, SRT). The new SE Challengers will come equipped with the Pentastar V6 engine which will push 300 horsepower and 290 lb-ft of torque (existing SE Challengers are at 250 hp & 250 TQ). The SRT8 Challengers will get the new 6.4L (392 cubic inch) V8 which will push an estimated 480 horsepower & 470 lb-ft of torque. Estimated MPG for the SRT8 is 13 city & 24 highway. The SRT8 will have the option of either the 6 speed TREMEC transmission or the 5 speed W5A580 automatic with AutoStick & MDS.

Some of the colors that are rumored to be available:
Brilliant Black
Blackberry Pearl
Billet Metallic
Bright White
Dark Charcoal Pearl
Mango Tango Pearl
Redline 3 Pearl
Green with Envy
Inferno Red Crystal Pearl Coat

On the 2011 Challenger with the SE or RT trim the steering will be Electric instead of the usual Hydraulic steering (SRT gets to keep it). According to allpar the electric steering cuts down on the number of moving parts, eliminates fuel leeks, and allows for easier integration of start / stop and hybrid systems.

Other Interior Changes:
New Steering wheel that's similar to the 2011 Charger's wheel
Illuminated Trunk Release button
Driver's seat quick release for rear seat access. …

Basically, every cologne has four essential components:

-Water
-Alcohol
-Fragrance
-Fixing Agent

The water used should only be distilled water. Tap water can contain impurities which can interfere with the aesthetics and aromatic qualities of a cologne. The alcohol provides a solvent for the other ingredients. It also releases fragrance as it evaporates. The fragrance can be any floral oil, essential herbal oil, liquid gums and resins you desire to provide fragrance. The fixing agent could have various gums and resins, however, glycerin is an excellent fixative for colognes, as it is already a liquid and blends easily with other liquids. The fixing agents job is to maintain the fragrances integrity.

Steps to Creating Cologne From Flowers

Using flowers to make cologne is probably the oldest method of cologne making. If you have a favorite flower in your garden and want to make a cologne from it's blossoms, this will work well for you.

First, fill a Mason jar with flower petals, packing them in tightly. Add distilled water to the jar until it is 3/4 full, then add 2 tablespoons of liquid vegetable oil. (Avoid highly scented oils, such as peanut oil, as they will interfere with your fragrance.) Finally, add 1 ounce of unscented rubbing alcohol. Cover the jar with a tight lid and shake contents thoroughly. Set the jar aside remembering to shake it a couple of times a day, or as often as you like, as shaking the jar will agitate the ingredients and speed up the cologne making process.

As the flower pets became fitted with water, the cellular membranes burst. This releases essential oils, as well as some of the coloring pigments. These floral oils escape into the water and cling to the vegetable oil. The alcohol acts as a solvent, dissolving the oils so that they mix with the water.

After a few days, pour the liquid cologne into jars for storage and discard the solids. To keep your cologne pure from some of the settlement, pour your cologne through cheesecloth. Now, add your glycerin. Use 1 ounce of glycerin to a quart of cologne.

Tip for Creating Cologne Faster

If you do not want to wait a couple of days, you can always speed up the process by placing the jar in a sunny window. As the sun worms the jar, you will be able to see the petals' cellular breakdown and release of essential oils. By using this method you can often have a cologne in the same or next day, rather than having to wait a few days. Be sure the jar is kept tightly covered. Remember, agitating it from time to time will speed up the process of dispersing the essential oils.

If you've been reading my blog, you know I like to do things as easy as possible. With all the fantastic essential oils available you can make or mimic many of the name brand colognes. The following recipe is just an example. To change the fragrance, just …

Portland Oregon, also known by other names such as “Rose Garden” and “Little Beirut” is a large city that occupies an important place in Multnomah County and has a population upwards of 500,000. The city’s location close to such notables like Seattle Washington and Vancouver makes it an attraction for students, businessmen and people looking to settle. This makes the area apartments a hot item with applications being submitted on a daily basis. To adhere to housing laws, Portland apartments conduct routine credit and rental history checks on potential tenants. This essentially means that if your credit score is low or you have a prior broken lease with a previous apartment, you may be denied an apartment in Portland Oregon.

The fact that there exists a standard practice of checking credit and rental history in Portland area apartments, it does not mean that there will not be apartments that will not work with problem applicants. While they may be few, they do exist nevertheless. Many applicants with bad credit or broken lease report a level of frustration when searching but if you fall into this category, here are a few areas with the city that you can look for second chance apartment:

  • Northwest including Pearl District
  • South West
  • Northeast
  • Southeast and more…
  • The reason it is difficult to locate second chance Portland apartments is because they do not get into the routine practice of advertising. One reason they do this is because they want to maintain their quality rating and also be able to keep their rates high. They also want to maintain a reputation of renting only to the most financially-stable tenants. This generally means that a casual search of apartments which approve applicants who are credit-challenged may yield disappointing results.

One method then that can be used to locate these types of apartments in Portland Oregon is learning to network. This means sharing with others who have been in similar situations. This is because they may have helpful ideas as to where one can locate an a leasing office manager who is understanding or lenient or apartments which are willing to overlook credit shortcomings. Another option is to utilize the power of the Internet to search and locate potential apartments and then call them ahead of time. You can also contact apartment locators and see whether they can offer any helpful insights as to which apartments would be willing to work with you.

It is also essential to bear in mind that even when you do find such an apartment, there will be basic requirements to meet. One is that you must have a job and have had it at least 6 months. Another is that your job must be paying you at least 3 times the amount of the rent and thirdly, you may have to go through a background check.…

My passions have always been gardening and painting. The two seem to go together and this was born out when starting a business in landscaping. It was natural to paint a picture of the finished design in my head. This led me to undertake counselling for those who could not imagine what a garden should look like. My long-standing interest in the outdoors held me in good stead as my little fingers were always in dirt from the time I could toddle.

Once advertising started and my first consulting job came to me it led to other things. The lady was so impressed with what she was offered that she paid me $400 to draw a plan of it. This was something right up my ally.

Putting my imagination to work the plan was a great success and before long there were some 2-3 per week along with consulting jobs. The main requiring for doing something like this is confidence. If one shows that they know what they are talking about and can satisfy their client with quality work, then it has to be a success.

Of course my enterprising didn’t stop there. The main point of this article is that people need to step out of their comfort zone and use their hobbies and interests to build a business. They have to start from scratch to do it but if they have enough confidence and knowledge they will success.

Mistakes will happen and that is the learning curve one has to go through. Costs of consulting work doesn’t have to be over the top as there is no outlay to doing it. Start small and build up. For consulting my charge was $75 and that is more than affordable when most landscape designers might charge 10 times that much for the same advice.…

Are you afraid that structural damage to your home will cause a big problem for you in the future? Are you having a hard time making your home dry and leak-free? Does your leaky basement add stress to your life? Then it's time for a "Do it Yourself Basement Waterproofing" project!

Do it yourself basement waterproofing projects can keep your home free from mildew, fungi and molds which can cause health problems, like asthma and allergies, for you and your family.

So what are the best do it yourself basement waterproofing tips you can use to keep your home from becoming flooded, leaky and dirty?

Here are a few do it yourself basement waterproofing tips you can follow:

    1. Make sure that water flows away from your home — and really far away. Sometimes, you can blame the landscaping around your home that causes the accumulation of water around the foundation. The best thing to do is to make sure that the ground slopes away from where you home is and that water never puddles around the foundation.
    2. You need to install gutters and down-spouts if your home does not have a system for collecting rainwater and snow that has melted. When you install new gutters and down-spouts, always make sure that they are draining the water at least 5 to 6 feet away from your home or building structure to an area that will not drain back towards your home ..
    3. Use paints that are water-resistant on your walls. Never allow your walls to weep due to the moisture and the condensation that transpires in your basement. Use high quality water-resistant paints to ensure their efficiency and effectiveness.
    4. Use a de-humidifier to absorb excess moisture from your foundation. You may need several de-humidifiers if you have a large basement.
    5. Put some rocks or gravel all around the exterior of your basement walls. This will absorb the moisture and will make your foundation dry faster than usual, and this is definitely the cheapest way to keep moisture out of your foundation.
    6. You also need to insulate water pipes so that the problem of condensation can be avoided.
    7. You must also avoid drying your clothes in the basement because this adds the humidity problems and it adds moisture to the air — which is the last thing you need in your foundation.
    8. Also, you need to ensure that all your appliances are venting out. Check your washing machine to make sure it does not have even a small leak. Small leaks can quickly turn into big floods if they go unnoticed.
    9. Install an exhaust fan in the bathroom of your basement. This will help to improve the ventilation in your basement.

These tips are all simple things that most people can do themselves for a minimal amount of money and without an expensive contractor. By simply following these tips, you can minimize your chances of having a basement flood, or water / moisture issues. …

Question: I just painted my walls. How long should I wait before applying my new decals?

Answer: First, it will depend on what type of paint you used. Latex paint takes up to 30 days to cure, although we’ve put wall decals on walls that have been painted less than a week. However, in our professional opinion, it would be better to wait 30 days.

If, on the other hand, you are using an oil-based paint (not common in most areas nowadays), you can apply vinyl graphics or decals or stickers within a week or so, as oil paints dry from the outside in.

When making signs using vinyl letters and logos, we always use oil-based paints as they last longer. But if you’re applying wall stickers to a wall in your home or business, it is unlikely in the modern era that you’ll be using oil-based paints.

So, while you may get away with installing vinyl wall stickers on your latex painted wall a week after it has been painted (yeah, we know it’s hard to wait!), it would be more ideal to wait a full 30 days.

Question: Can I reuse Wall Decals after I take them off the wall?

Answer: Wall Decals may not be reusable IF the vinyls used are very thin.

Using thin vinyl doesn’t mean that they are low quality, though. Do note that we don’t sell this brand of decal, but we’ll vouch for them that the thinner the vinyl, the better the quality is. Likely they are using “cast” vinyl, which doesn’t shrink like “calendared” vinyl will.

Most of the time if you remove a wall decal, you will stretch the material, thus decreasing the adhesion of the stretched material. If you put it on a textured wall, often it will lift paint flecks and plaster when you remove the sticker, also decreasing the adhesiveness of the vinyl.

On a general note, vinyl decals are rarely re-useable. If you get a removable decal or a static cling decal, these can be removed and re-used to some degree, although adhesion will tend to decline after the first usage.

Static cling decals particularly loose elasticity over time, and the thinner the static cling material, the sooner it will lose the ability to be re-applied. Static cling materials use plasticizers to maintain a soft and supple surface that will adhere to glass, acrylic, or very smooth painted surfaces. Over time, static cling material loses this suppleness and hence its re-usability as well.

On the other hand, repositionable decal adhesives are also available. The degree of removability varies from 6 months to 3 years. Some decal materials are employed only for interior use, and some for both. Obviously, any decal that can be used out-of-doors can also be used indoors.…

Diets are defined in the traditional sense of following a specific eating plan for weight loss / obesity.

Sure, following any of the hundreds of plans that have been promoted in the last few decades may result in some weight loss, but the benefits typically do not last.

Sadly, there is no magic bullet. No, not even those prescription medications that are common these days. Sure, they may result in shedding some pounds, but I've been observing nasty side effects in people that use them, and without lifestyle changes are made, the pounds will come back.

The average American keeps getting heavier, especially children, and the new miracle diets keep coming, and the average American keeps getting heavier, especially children, and …

I suspect you get my point.

But wait, I have this diet that works and I offer a guarantee and … Gotcha! Sorry, there are no simple, miracle solutions / plans. There was never any and there never will be.

I am happy to report that what does work for weight management, always has and always will work, is this: careful food selections, self control, occasional splurging (yahoo!), Acceptance of how God made you, and eating slower, smaller more Numerous meals.

This is the holistic approach and it's what I advocate.

Why do not you see this type eating advice advertised on TV or in magazines anywhere? It's because nobody makes any money when you do it. Surprise! In fact, many people will make less money when you follow a healthy holistic eating lifestyle, sometimes doctors because you will likely be ill less often.

Please become aware that the media and it's advertisers are becoming increasingly talented at getting and keeping our attention, particularly when it comes to our physical appearance. They place pictures of beautiful people with gleaming muscles (they are oiled), rippling six pack abdomens (they are airbrushed or do dozens of sit-ups immediately before the picture is taken), or even yet the people are taking steroid type drugs to enhance Their physiques. These "models" are not representative of we typical humans. You and I need to be wise to this, even though we enjoy looking.

Also, be wary of some of the food products, their claims, and what's in them.

The top 10 deceiving "healthy" foods that lead to weight gain and other health problems:

    – margarine, because it lacks the essential oils necessary for a healthy cardiovascular system.

    – artificial sweeteners, because they contribute to inflammation

    – soy, because it can mimics the hormone estrogen

    – most granola bars, because they contain excess sugar

    – most dehydrated fruits, because they have added sugar

    – most juices, because they lack pulp and contain excess added sugars

    – whole grain products, because many people have hidden gluten allergies

    – commercially grown apples, bell peppers, celery, cherries, and imported grapes because they are the top 5 most chemically treated produce and contain toxins.

    – all orange juice, because it is well known to increase inflammation

With the current down turn in the economy many engineers have loss their jobs or worried that they maybe losing their job soon. Budget constraints both in the public and private sector are forcing to think about how secure the jobs really are. But as we all know this recession will not last forever. Sooner or later the promised recovery will begin. The question is what engineering will benefit from the renewed economy and which ones will not fair so well? There is no real crystal ball, but there are clear indicators that every engineer should be aware of and make preparations accordingly.

Engineers will need to continue their education to stay up with the latest technologies to offer their clients the best solutions. Most of the State Licensing Boards require Professional Engineers to renew their professional licenses periodically with a minimum number of continuing education units. These units are usually Professional Development Hours (PDH) or Continuing Education Units (CEU). One PDH is equivalent to one hour of course education, and one CEU is equivalent to ten PDH or ten hours of course education. Some may find that their profession is not growing or trailing behind may need to change careers or strength their technical knowledge.

One of the best indicators of upcoming markets is to know what the baby boomer generation needs and wants. The baby boomers, the individuals born between 1945 and 1964, are now approaching retirement age. Many will be retiring and will require some medical and health assistance. They will also want medication to appear young as long as possible. Obviously fields that support this industry will do very well. The most likely profession to benefit is Biomedical Engineers. They are necessary to improve new medical devices and equipment. In addition, new facilities will be required for the aging population. Independent Living Facilities and senior communities will rise in demand. This will definitely improve prospects for Civil and Mechanical Engineers.

Another field that will continue to have a high demand for engineers is the environmental fields, which includes new green products, renewable energy, water resources, and waste-water management. The United States will continue to encourage renewable energy including wind and solar power with government grants and other types of funding. These projects will generate numerous jobs for many different professions. As the population continues to expand a greater demand will be placed on housing and our water resources and waste-water management. These increased demands will increase jobs for Electrical, Mechanical, Civil and Environmental Engineers.

Due to the increasing population and aging facilities, the government will also need to expand and improve the country’s infrastructure. Roads, bridges, dams, railways, airports, and utilities throughout the country will need greater attention. These improvements will also increase the demand for Civil Engineers.

According to the United States Bureau of Labor Statistics, “Occupational Outlook Handbook”, 2010-11 Edition, over the next decade, 2008 to 2018, the engineering field should grow by 11%. In 2008 engineers held 1.6 million jobs in the United …
